Advocacy Updates

Update #1

September 2nd, 2026

∗ Applications for the 2026-2027 Advocacy Committee are now open!

∗ Myself along with other CSSA executives are working on integrating the CS Help Centre into the UManitoba CS Discord.

∗ The above involves creating an agreement between the CSSA and the CS Help Centre, as there is currently no precedent for CS faculty joining the server.

Purpose

One of my goals this academic year is to increase transparency for the Advocacy role. I will be updating this page as frequently as possible across my term to give this role the transparency it requires.

The purpose of the Advocacy role as I see it is primarily to ensure Computer Science students are adequately represented within the club and in their academic pursuits, and secondarily to function as a liasion between the CSSA and the CS Department.

Campaign Promises

  • Be an active voice for all students when communicating to the CS department.
  • Launch frequent, small initiatives to ensure students are being advocated for.
  • Pick a diverse committee so that all students are well-represented.
  • Run surveys for the student body to track our advocacy throughout my term.
